USPAACC celebrates Joseph Hsiao, President, and CEO of the H Restaurant Group and Member of USPAACC Southeast Region’s Board of Directors on receiving the “John Lu International Business of the Year Award”

The US Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC) today celebrated Joseph Hsiao, President and CEO of the H Restaurant Group and member of USPAACC Southeast Region’s Board of Directors, on receiving the “John Lu International Business of the Year Award” for 2023.

The prestigious honor was bestowed upon Mr. Hsiao during the 2023 Georgia Minority Business (GMB) Awards recently held in Atlanta, Georgia. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the GMB awards honoring Georgia’s minority businesses and entrepreneurs who make an impact within their business communities, put customers first, increase their company’s value, offer great workplaces, and have a tremendous impact on the City of Atlanta and the state of Georgia. The award is named in honor of John Lu, founder of the Asian Restaurant Council.

Mr. Hsiao is the President and CEO of H Restaurant Group, a successful entrepreneur, and a respected community leader. A proud native of Georgia, Mr. Hsiao was born and raised in Atlanta, worked in, and managed his parents’ successful restaurants while earning his bachelor’s degree in business management from Georgia State University.

In 2010, Mr. Hsiao and his brother Matthew founded the H Restaurant Group which has since expanded to six Georgia-based restaurants: The Flying Biscuit Cafe franchise with two locations in Candler Park and Midtown Atlanta; the West Cobb Diner in Marietta; the South Cobb Diner in downtown Austell; Pisano’s Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen in downtown Kennesaw, and the Hibachi Express & Wing House in Norcross, respectively. Mr. Hsiao’s extensive business experience also includes his working with various companies in retail, sales, customer service, marketing, promotions, and the hospitality sectors.

Mr. Hsiao is a member of the Board of Directors for the US Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce Southeast Region (USPAACC-SE), the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, and Georgia Advocates for Crime Prevention, and also serves as Secretary of the Georgia Restaurant Association, and President of the Asian Restaurant Council.

Mr. Hsiao generously donates his time and talents to several area non-profit organizations, is an active member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Norcross, serves on the State Board for the Technical College System of Georgia, and is a member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Hsiao and his wife, Vicki, have two young children and he enjoys spending time with his family and attending sporting events, concerts, and movies.

“I was surprised, thrilled, and honored to receive the John Lu International Business of the Year Award. Whether I was working in my family’s restaurant, launching the H Restaurant Group with my brother Matthew, and seeing it grow to six successful restaurants across Georgia, or giving back to the community and state that have been so good to me, I’ve been blessed to live and realize the American Dream. I thank USPAACC Southeast Region President Sheetal Desai, and CEO Lissa Miller for the recognition of this award, and USPAACC National President and CEO Susan Au Allen for her national leadership and support,” said Joseph Hsiao, President, and CEO of the H Restaurant Group, and 2023 recipient of the John Lu International Business of the Year Award.

“Joseph Hsiao’s tremendous success, innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, and community commitment are reflected in his receiving the John Lu International Business of the Year Award and his continued leadership and valuable contributions as a member of our USPAACC Southeast Region’s Board of Directors. Congratulations, Joseph from everyone at USPAACC on your well-deserved recognition,” said Susan Au Allen, National President and CEO of USPAACC.
