According to Forbes Magazine, "When done right, influencer marketing is a multiplier: It leverages the reach, credibility and salesmanship of a community of influencers to advocate your product to consumers, and it results in awareness, improved perception and action." Influencer marketing is not a new concept and many companies utilize Instagram and other social media sites such as Facebook and Snap chat when it comes to marketing.
Influencers are not someone with only a large social media following. Rather, an influencer is someone who has the power to influence the perception of others. When applying this definition to marketers, an influencer is someone who convinces others to buy a service or product from a certain company. The best influencer marketing does not involve financial compensation. Instead, it requires understanding that influencers wish to be recognized, have access to information and be the first to know of news and updates in their domain. Moreover, influencer marketing takes time, dedication and focus, and it must be transparent and honest.
