Hurricane Harvey has devastated large areas of Texas, leaving thousands stranded and in need of help. The hurricane has caused “epic and catastrophic” flooding, as described by local government officials.
“Texas is resilient, and I am confident that the great people of the Lone Star State will soon recover, rebuild, and be stronger than ever,” said Susan Au Allen, USPAACC National President & CEO. “Meanwhile, from all of us at the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce, all of Houston is in our thoughts, prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery.”
USPAACC encourages its members and supporters to give the victims of the hurricane a helping hand by donating to the following organizations:
• The American Red Cross accepts donations via phone at 1-800-RED CROSS or text HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation for those in need. For donations via their website, click https://www.redcrosss.org/donate/donation (choose Hurricane Harvey)
• Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner’s relief fund at The Greater Houston Community Foundation: https://ghcf.org/hurricane-relief/
• Google will match the first $1 million (now almost $2 million in donations and counting) and will go directly to Network for Good and will then be distributed to the American Red Cross, which will be opening shelters, providing aid, and distributing supplies to victims in Texas and across the Gulf Coast: https://www.google.org/harvey-relief/
