USPAACC Holds Successful Business Roundtable Matchmaking & Networking Reception at Capital One HQ

USPAACC hosted a full house Business Roundtable Matchmaking & Networking Reception on March 8 at Capital One HQ in McLean, VA. The event brought together Asian American and minority business owners, Fortune corporation supplier diversity and procurement leaders and small business program managers from federal, state and local government.

Jerry Miller, Director, Enterprise Supplier Management opened the event with welcome remarks on behalf of Capital One Financial Corporation, a 5-year member and supporter of USPAACC. He highlighted the importance of supplier diversity within the company as well as working with external partners, such as USPAACC, to bring more diverse vendors to the table.

During the “Business Roundtable Matchmaking” portion of the event, Asian American and other minority and small businesses met face to face with representatives of Fortune corporations and Government Agencies in three rounds of private discussions. Supplier Diversity and Small Business Programs Directors and Managers from AARP, Accenture, BAE Systems, Caesars Entertainment, Capital One, Defense Logistics Agency, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Hilton Worldwide, Lockheed Martin,  Marriott International, MGM National Harbor, NASA, NSF, Pepco, Prince George’s County Office of Supplier Diversity & Development, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Postal Service,  were all hands on at the matchmaking sessions to share insights on how to do business with their respective companies/agencies.

The roundtable matchmaking was followed by a networking reception, where our members had a chance to spend more time with the buyers and finish up the conversations started at the round tables.

Through comments such as “The event was indeed a great hit and very well organized, managed and very well attended. Good buyers and all the round table sessions were informative”; “It was a pleasure to attend the event.  I enjoyed connecting with the various suppliers, and we increased our chances of gaining additional diverse suppliers”; “The Business Roundtable was a huge success.  The entire USPAACC team was on point and delivered a well-managed and effective event”; “The Capital One facility is very nice and everyone who attended spoke very highly of the event and the reception”, we know that we kicked the ball out of the park!

Now on to the 31st annual national CelebrAsian Procurement Conference on June 1-3 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Georgia!
