Wells Fargo and USPAACC Recognize 3 Asian American-Owned Businesses

Wells Fargo & Company with the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC) honored three Asian business owners with the 7th annual USPAACC/Wells Fargo Asian Business Leadership Award, recognizing their vision, success and community contributions. The winners each received a $5,000 cash prize and honored at the USPAACC 25th Anniversary CelebrAsian Business Opportunity Conference in Washington DC, held on May 25-27, 2010. 

The 2010 winners, selected from across the nation and evaluated based on their innovation, financial success, and community service, are:
• San Diego, C.A.-based MBN Group Architects, Inc. – President Minh Nguyen
• Parsippany, N.J.-based Tronex International Inc. – President Donald Chu
• Carson, C.A.-based VNSM – Owner Lilly Chang

“The recent economic difficulties have forced business leaders to re-evaluate their strategies for growing and gaining market share,” said Patrick Yalung, Wells Fargo Regional President in the state of Washington and national spokesperson for Wells Fargo’s Asian Business Services program. “This year’s award winners show that strong business leaders survived and some thrived, despite a downturn in the business cycle. For this reason, we are particularly pleased to highlight their unwavering passion and commitment to servicing customers and delivering quality work that makes them leaders in their industries and their communities.”

The award is one component of Wells Fargo’s Asian Business Services program. Established in 2002, the program builds relationships with, and supports the vision of key community national and regional alliance partners, conducts primary research to understand needs of Asian business owners and works to connect Asian business owners to the financial information and resources they need to reach their financial goals. Wells Fargo measures its progress with a public goal to lend $5 billion to Asian-owned businesses by the end of 2013. The company has loaned close to $3.2 billion to Asian business owners nationwide since 2002.

MBN Group Architects, Inc., based in San Diego, California, provides architectural engineering services from feasibility study and planning to construction support. Established in 2004, the company is focused on bringing the practical and personal side of architecture to the industry through quality work and understanding the needs of their clients. President Minh T. Nguyen, who immigrated to the United States in 1975 as a Vietnam War refugee and went on to graduate from the University of California at Berkeley with an architecture degree, will be honored.

Tronex International, Inc., based in Parsippany, New Jersey, is a national and international marketing company and leading provider of quality cross-contamination control and infection prevention solutions serving the healthcare, foodservice, hospitality, manufacturing, janitorial/sanitary and government industries. Established in 1989, the company consists of over 70 employees in the USA and has received numerous awards for their outstanding supplier reputation and sound business practices. President and CEO Donald Chu will be honored. His company, whose motto is “Making a Positive Difference and the World a Better Place,” has developed key relations based on long-term partnerships with its Asian manufacturing partners and customers in the United States and internationally.

VNSM, based in Carson, California, is an established sheet metal subcontractor providing sheet metal services for medium and large scale commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects.  Established in 1934, the company’s success is driven by a reputation built on quality, integrity and responsibility.  Owner Lilly Chang, who introduced modern management tools and techniques into the family-owned business and identified new paths to growth, will be honored.
