The US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC) led a delegation of industry leaders, business owners and corporate executives on its 2010 Asia Trade Mission to Taipei, Chongqing, Shanghai and Beijing, from September 12 to 22. In Taipei, the delegation met with Taiwan Vice President Vincent Siew. In Beijing, Deputy Chief of Mission Robert Goldberg of the U.S. Embassy hosted the delegation at his residence.
The Mission’s theme “Global Strategy for Sustainability: Conserve, Recycle and Renew” focused on sustainable and renewable products, services and processes in growth markets, plus best practices, and real opportunities with buyers, suppliers and trade partners between U.S.-based companies and businesses in Taiwan and China.
“We were excited to spearhead the 2010 Asia Trade Mission, as it created yet another pivotal building block in our pursuit of expanding revenue for our delegates while exploring new business opportunities and strategic relationships in the world’s fastest-growing marketplaces,” said Susan Au Allen, National President & CEO of USPAACC.
Co-Chairs of the 2010 Asia Trade Mission were: Wen Chang, President of USPAACC West Coast Chapter and Founder, Chairman and CEO of Trade Union International / Topline; and Chester Tong, Founder, President and CEO of MSL Express.
Food and beverage company PepsiCo, with a significant presence in China and Taiwan, was a major part of the delegation, which also included a select group of procurement executives and business owners from more than 18 U.S.-based companies.
The delegation was composed of businesses from diverse sectors, such as: shipping, packaging, IT, engineering, environmental consulting, and telecommunications, among others. Global companies with operations in Taipei and China, which hosted the delegation, included PepsiCo, Hisense, SIPA, MSL Express, Topline, ICG Commerce, and Alibaba.com. Other participating corporations in Asia included Cisco, ConAgra Foods, Dase-Sing Group, GE, Hewlett Packard (HP China) and Microsoft.
A significant part of the 2010 Asia Trade Mission’s itinerary include: the International CEO Forum; USPAACC’s signature One-on-One Business Matchmaking Meetings with Chinese and Taiwanese executives; and exclusive tours of the Economic and Industrial Zone in Taipei, IBM and Hewlett Packard Research and Development Plants, the Economic Zone in Chongqing, and select country pavilions at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.
